Understand Pickleball Court Size
Learn the court dimensions, kitchen area, net placement, and layout basics for play.
A pickleball court measures 20 feet in width and 44 feet in length, which is the same for both singles and doubles play. This size is comparable to a doubles badminton court and includes specific zones for serving and play.
The non-volley zone, often referred to as the "kitchen," extends 7 feet from each side of the net. This zone restricts players from volleying close to the net, adding a strategic element to the game by encouraging longer rallies.
The net height is set at 36 inches at the sidelines and 34 inches at the center, slightly lower than a tennis net. This height difference allows for varied shot techniques, making pickleball accessible to players of all skill levels and creating an exciting, fast-paced game.
